Earthquake Paranoia!

With the number of terrible man made and natural disasters happening, I feel as if the 2012 story might come true!!! Just read this topic in Slashdot, which led me to do a simple calculation. The experiment was to see if a simple logic can be associated with the earthquakes happened in Chile, New Zealand and Japan. This is to study the chances of earthquake in California region, which as per the geologists - a 99% chance for an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude could occur within the next 30 years!

Feb 27, 2010 - Chile - 8.8 magnitude

Sep 4, 2010 - New Zealand - 7.1 magnitude

Feb 22, 2011 - New Zealand (Christchurch) - 6.3 magnitude

Chile to New Zeland - 189 days

Sep 4, 2010 - New Zealand - 7.1 magnitude

Mar 11, 2011 - Japan - 9.0 magnitude

New Zealand to Japan - 187 days

Tata Photon+ - DO NOT BUY!!!

Fresh experience with Tata again! Got the Tata Photon+ on Friday and trying to find if I will ever get a speed of 1MB atleast (though the promise is upto 3.4Mbps)!!! After complex search - reached the customer care and who has no good answer - and she promises 'you'll get 256Kbps surely sir'!!! who cares if I get 256kbps... why cant I get what I paid for. And the best part is she is said need to know what is the speed I get, to know that asked me to open speedtest.net / bandwidth.com - both didn't load thru out the call (aroun 15mins). Finally even she gave up and took a request, and here is the best part - they are going to send an engineer to verify the wireless connection!!!

Best suggestion is .. just DO NOT BUY TATA. They have no moral sense, no servicing attitude and no responsibility towards the customer / product. All they want to do is simply use the brand and sell things. No wonder foreign countries rule India, only if I companies realize!!!

Sad to be an Indian!

Had once with DoCoMo and now with Photon+. Will never look or recommend anything on Tata to anyone who might take my opinion.

Tata DoCoMo - the name and jingle inspired me so much to buy a postpaid connection last week. After week's use I realize its a huge mistake I have done!! :( Service is extremely bad even in the city limits and dont ask about service during roaming. I am not sure about the cost since the customer care never worked for me except for the first few days. No one was able to reach me in the weekend in my native since the roaming support was so awful!!

Pathetic service and network systems, think before you invest on the same.

An absolute intelligence failure on why the Mumbai is terror stuck. Almost every single protection force has been involved in this mission, to have it still going more than 42 hrs with no positive result, now.

Taj Hotel - have been taken hostage by (unknown number) of terrorists. Yesterday the NSG declared the Taj is under control which proved to be false today morning, till now(night). During the day it was told by the NSG/Police/Media completely meaningless blabbering numbers to confuse the public more obvious than they could.

Nariman House gives a much further confusion to understand what is happening and what is not. It was declared the Nariman mission is over and within 10 mins it was reverted saying another floor has to be evacuated.

All the above shows where all we fail as a country and what is that we need to learn, more over in between this critical mission the state minister for home affairs talks political blame to get some votes, i jus dont konw what to call these people.

Its still winding as the media reports. I pray it is all over really.

Creating the Creativity

Recently, I am squeezing my brain to give some nice, interesting ideas for watsoever reasons. Found this piece of information from jpb.com. Check it out.

1. Listen to music by Johann Sebastian Bach. If Bach doesn't make you more creative, you should probably see your doctor - or your brain surgeon if you are also troubled by headaches, hallucinations or strange urges in the middle of the night.

2. Brainstorm. If properly carried out, brainstorming can help you not only come up with sacks full of new ideas, but can help you decide which is best. Click here for more information on brainstorming.

3. Always carry a small notebook and a pen or pencil around with you. That way, if you are struck by an idea, you can quickly note it down. Upon rereading your notes, you may discover about 90% of your ideas are daft. Don't worry, that's normal. What's important are the 10% that are brilliant.

4. If you're stuck for an idea, open a dictionary, randomly select a word and then try to formulate ideas incorporating this word. You'd be surprised how well this works. The concept is based on a simple but little known truth: freedom inhibits creativity. There are nothing like restrictions to get you thinking.

5. Define your problem. Grab a sheet of paper, electronic notebook, computer or whatever you use to make notes, and define your problem in detail. You'll probably find ideas positively spewing out once you've done this.

6. If you can't think, go for a walk. A change of atmosphere is good for you and gentle exercise helps shake up the brain cells.

7. Don't watch TV. Experiments performed by the JPB Creative Laboratory show that watching TV causes your brain to slowly trickle out your ears and/or nose. It's not pretty, but it happens.

8. Don't do drugs. People on drugs think they are creative. To everyone else, they seem like people on drugs.

9. Read as much as you can about everything possible. Books exercise your brain, provide inspiration and fill you with information that allows you to make creative connections easily.

10. Exercise your brain. Brains, like bodies, need exercise to keep fit. If you don't exercise your brain, it will get flabby and useless. Exercise your brain by reading a lot (see above), talking to clever people and disagreeing with people - arguing can be a terrific way to give your brain cells a workout. But note, arguing about politics or film directors is good for you; bickering over who should clean the dishes is not.

Recently, I have been watching all these movies based Dementia / Alzheimer's. And yet today I realise that my memory is going down in many instances, even the keyboard shortcuts for the software I use everyday. Maybe its a just a natural loss of memory or maybe I am overwhelmed by the films and creating a role in me as if I am affected. Its pure psychological I strongly believe, but the fact is I am taken control by my thoughts than my knowledge.

Hope things change. Its possible only by her.

In the new house

After a long run of disasters, there seems to be something to feel happy about, atlast. I have rented a new apartment for me & my love and peacefully spent the first day, me alone, dreaming how excited this place is going to be and how this place is place is going to become a landmark in my life. Am in the seven hundredth cloud jus for this and my queen is yet to step in, really dunno how high I would fly!

Things began y'day as per her instruction and everything just happened as expected. I feel good & excited about she going to join me in a couple of weeks. I wish it happens along with my b'day, then it shud be most memorable day! :-)

Pray for me for a peaceful and meaningful future. :-)

hmm.. after a long time, I could see something new happening in my mindset. Something new, something which I used to dislike or have the least interest is kind of becoming the most favorite element in life.

And, its Moviessss! yeah! I always felt movies are for people who dont value time and its mere a time pass. I strongly believed there are million alternatives to pass time more effectively and meaningfully. And now, perhaps I am done with the million alternatives I am turning towards Movies too! And for me, its not a time pass its a huge refresher. Yeah! as long as you watch something of your taste I believe Movies are meaningful too! I am enjoying it!

Unfortunately, there are extremely less good quality movies in Tamil. I am forced to pick from a huge collection of Hollywood and many of them are scrap, still leaving a few as gems. I am enjoying those stones that are unturned by commercial values.

For a quick history, a few of which I liked until now [the first para clearly explains I hated, so dont expect a long list!! :-)]

Sometime after the disastrous talks with my wife (no worries, it will cool in minutes!!), I was browsing through psychological theories on happiness and stuff. Came across this person Dan Gilbert, a psychology professor talking about "Synthetic & Natural happiness". An inspiring talk of 22 mins, which I greatly liked.

A few words from the talk, which I feel is the gist.

"...somethings are better than other. we should have preferences that lead us into one future, over another. but when those preferences drive us too hard and too fast because we have overrated the difference between these futures, we are at RISK.

when our ambition is bounded, it leads us to work joyfully. when our ambition is unbounded it leads us to lie, cheat, steal, to hurt others, to sacrifice things of real value. when our fears are bounded, we are prudent, thoughtful, cautious. when our fears are unbounded and over blown we are reckless and we are cowardly."

2007 was the last item in my write-up on the vision of tomorrow, written in 1997. And, I believe I have stood and achieved what I have forseen then! Thanks for all and everyone who gave their hands to get me here with all the joy and happiness. I wish the very best and feel glad for all the effort that brought me here.

The thoughts were not written beyond 2007, perhaps, since the last item was my marriage, I expected me to decide the next phase along with my partner. I strongly believe its true.

There is always a certain amount of profit and loss in everything we do. And I am not willing to be sorry for the loss nor excited for the profit. I believe what has happened is happened because I wanted it to happen that way!

I further pray to have the strong will and vision to lead my future in a most successful manner and with the best of confidence and courage.

The terrible week still continues ... and this week its with a lot of fire and extinguishers. My car is no more car than a iron skeleton. Week by week my excitement and entertainment to people keeps me more alert to what else could happen next. Fine, lets go to the scene now.

Its 7.30 p.m Tuesday another normal day in office but not with my car. I prepared to leave home after having a short conversation with my colleague, Anand. When I reached my car I found a security nearby taking a note some other car parked recently. I kept the laptop bag in the back seat and boarded. I turned the ignition to start, it worked but went off quickly. I tried it for a couple of times to get it running but failed and assumed its coz the gas is empty. So, I switched to petrol mode to start the engine. It worked but didn't last long, giving the maximum throttle didn't help keep the engine running. By this time the security, who was signalling for my reverse, came near the car and found something strange in the place I parked.

"Sir, something looks leaking" - before these words came from him came a nice burst of fire from my car bonnet which went straight to his legs. He jus started to shout fire and ran to get the extinguishers. I was in complete shock to see this from the drivers seat. I hurried to get out but struggled a bit coz of the seat belt. Somehow with a great fear I managed to get out of the car. Only after jumping out I realized there is a transformer behind and the car is actually moving behind towards it. With reluctance I againg went back into the firing car to put the breaks and get the keys of ignition, and also switched of the fuel mode converter, I was not sure whether the button for fuel would work in that fire still I did it for some reason logical to me.

By this time the a huge number of security personnel gathered with the equipments and started to fight with the growing fire. I was scared as I was sure there was some LPG left in the vehicle, if burst could be disasturous. Luckily after some 15 mins of fight they tried to put of everything and handed my stuff found inside the car.

Many thanks for those quick and astute security personnel in my office.

Later the car was moved outside my office campus for security reasons due to the LPG inside. A huge war happened between us and the tow vehicle companies. A very unhuman behaviour with almost every company we spoke, the first time I was realizing how people would exploit any given situation jus for material greediness. A tow vehicle operator was charging Rs. 1900 to tow my vehicle from the office campus to the nearest showroom which is 1 km. Almost everyone we spoke for help was jus trying to make money with not even a point percent service intention. Ofcourse everything is business but I wish there could be some ethics and humanity in it. I was not in a mood to bargain and finally another idea to contact the Maruthi 24hrs Road service came to mind with the help of Thabresh, my maruthi showroom engineer.

After an hour long painful wait we got the tow vehicle which took my vehicle to the showroom. It was pain to see my car in such a way. I just have no words to express what is running in my mind...

A super jump from 8 feet ground into a paddy field. No, its not a scene on a shoot it is how my day started today when i was on my way to office. Something disturbed my legs and a fraction of second to concentrate on it caused to me jump from my road, which is 8 ft above the ground, to a paddy field to my right. I dont know why this happened as I used to drive so cautiously. Still anything can happen to anyone is true. And I believe it now in a more stronger way...! Luckily I didn't kill anyone since its a curve, thank god.

Maybe the day is gonna be worse than this, so no office and no thinkings just rest.

a long debate in what is better and what is not is almost reaching its end. As far as my philosophy is concerned I do not believe in right or wrong since they are more relative, situational and justifiable. Those who have books on rights and wrongs are for the ideal world and absolutely not for the place we are living in. There is always a reason and justification for every cause and reaction. Only those should be more logical and comprehensive to conclude its kind.

Whatever they do many dont believe they are doing wrong and they believe they have all the rights to justify prove themselves correct. This may help ease the situation temporarily but not permanently. Justifications are acceptable only on request for it specifically, else its just a reason finder to give an answer / prove the act to be right, which may not be convincing for the listener.

I'm writing this with some past experiences and understanding. I'm not sure what is this all about, its jus a thought.

There was a good old barber in Bangalore. One day a florist goes to him for a haircut. After the cut, he goes to pay the barber and the barber replies:

A Software Engineer goes for a haircut and he also goes to pay the barber again refuses the money saying that it was a community service.

Maybe the boat is getting a better hold on its water, though it never has! Am just feeling relieved the repatriation was stopped for some unknown reason. And now perhaps this is the time, the ideal time, to execute it.

சில நாட்களாய் நடந்துக்கொண்டிருப்பவை யாவும் என்னையறிந்து நடக்கின்றனவா என்பதை புரிந்துக்கொள்ளவே இன்னும் சில ஆண்டுகள் பிடிக்கும் போல் தோன்றுகிறது. தன்னையறியாமல், தான் எவ்விதத்திலும் சம்பந்தப்படாத போது, நடப்பவை மிகிந்த குழப்பத்தை மட்டுமே விளைவிக்கின்றன...! எனினும் மனிதரின் மாற்றத்திற்குட்பட்டதே என்பதை நாளொரு வண்ணமுமாய் உணர்கிறேன்! சில நேரங்களில் தவறு யாருடையது என்று அறிவதனை விட விளைவு யாது என்றறிவதே நயம்.

...காலத்தின் போக்கில் செல்லாமல், சுய விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளைச் சார்ந்து செல்வதையே என் மனம் விரும்புகிறது!

A long break....

Its been quite a long time, and quite a lot of things happened. Life has been, and is being, through all possible roads of life. Its really interesting but painful sometimes, anyway there are always some simple medicine to cure the worst wounds. So, I am not so worried.

To give a hint on wat has happened:

1. JAN: Visu has moved to Chennai to work with I2K technologies.

2. FEB: Bala, after a few hiccups, has also moved to Chennai to work with Photon Infotech.

3. FEB: Haris joined Aztecsoft in Bangalore itself.

4. MAR: Myself, I got my VISA for USA but was unlucky to make the trip. Anyway i'm happy with my visa stamping in passport! :)

5. APR: Finally with after all possible negotiations I decided to leave Ascendum.

6. APR: With four opportunitites on hand, I convinced myself to join Symphony.

7. I have joined Symphony Services as Senior Engineer for Product Development in Flex technologies.

8. Got an US assignment and unlucky for the second time for a not a very valid reason. (Perhaps, i'm now used to it) :(

9. Kind of settled in Symphony with all new people and environment.

10. Many many things happeneing in the family! Not so good! :(

It all started with the maximum joy and enthusiasm as it happens in everything. Now its more of thinking the reality and feasibility. Its not a matter jus between the two. Its more a matter of the two with others. It was all discussed, understood, quarelled, etc. and now repatriated. It, perhaps not be the ideal one, still matters a lot when seen thru various other eyes apart from the four.

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
